All people have a creative streak in them – it all just has to do with how they express that creativity. One of the things that younger people like to do in order to get some of that creative energy out is dance. There’s something about dancing under the bright lights of a club that really appeals to many people.

So, it comes as no surprise that these same people have been known to get ultraviolet ink tattoos. This is a trend that really surfaced in the 90s, when the rave scene was especially popular. For the people who love to go clubbing and are constantly looking for new ways to express themselves, ultraviolet ink tattoos are an intriguing option.

What are ultraviolet ink tattoos? Well, they might be in the tattoo family, but they’re in a completely different branch. Specifically, they are tattoos that cannot be seen in regular light, but when they’re put under black light, the tattoo shows up in vibrant colors.

Of course, when ultraviolet ink tattoos were first invented, they were extremely popular. However, the more people that got them, the more risks became apparent, and getting this kind of tattoo is now considered dangerous. Why? Because part of what is injected into the skin is phosphorous, which is initially mixed in with the ink.

Phosphorous is a potentially dangerous chemical, a chemical that can cause severe reactions in certain people. The most common reactions associated with this kind of tattoo are rashes, skin bubbling, an epidermal infection, and scarring. Because of these reactions, this kind of tattoo has never been approved by the FDA.

That is an important fact to be aware of, because some tattoo shops claim that these kinds of tattoos have been FDA approved, and people are thus mislead into getting these tattoos, thinking that they’re safe. So, what’s the general consensus amongst tattoo artists about this kind of tattoo in the first place?

Well, the opinion is divided. Some of the artists like the thrill of danger, and still openly offer these kinds of tattoos in their shops. In fact, some artists even go so far as to make their own ultraviolet ink. However, this kind of tattoo is not nearly as widely available as it used to be, mostly because of the difficulty involved in creating the tattoo.

The overall process is similar to that of regular tattooing, except that it requires the use of a black light being held up to the skin while the tattoo is being administered. It is a very intricate process, and it is also a process that many tattoo artists simply don’t want to partake in because of the large margin of error.

So, should you get this kind of tattoo? It is recommended that you don’t, because there are just too many health risks at the moment. Besides, would you really want to pay money for a tattoo you can only see in certain kinds of light? Ideally, this kind of tattoo will be available in safer forms in the future.
